EPISODE 020: Bravery & Empowerment

What You'll Hear

In this episode:

In this episode, I’m meeting Bravery Coach, Alex Ray at the mic to discuss growing up with insecurity, fear, and self-loathing and how once you hit rock bottom, the only way left to go is up.  Alex teaches us that when you’re brave, you empower others around you to be brave too.

“What if…everything you are going through is preparing you for what you asked for?”

What we talk about:

Alex speaks about growing up in a strict, conservative church community while being a gay man feeling like he’d be outcast
Being in a bad mental state at a young age, feeling his self worth and confidence being destroyed because of his schooling environment, and wanting to die
Grew up feeling inferior and like he was never good enough because of his environment
Alex talks about being on medication as well as being in and out of therapy since the 2nd grade
At some point, he hit rock bottom and didn’t have the urge to live which prompted him to realize he needed help and finally making a 180-degree shift in his life

What can you learn from this:

Alex opens up about talking to his family about his problems and allowing them to be there for him as opposed to feeling like a burden and saying nothing
How the events of his life allowed him to find his purpose and understanding the things that give your life value
What is bravery and how does he coach people to be brave
How he’s come to a point of giving people hope, who would otherwise not have it
